The Hollyford Track follows the Hollyford River from the Hollyford road end (18km from the Te Anau/Milford Sound Highway) to Martins Bay (allow four days walking one way). Access by aircraft to Martins Bay is possible, and during the summer season prearranged jet boat transport is available across Lake McKerrow. The Hollyford Track is at low altitude and can be walked at any time of the year.
There are six DOC huts on the track available on the Hollyford Track for trampers. It is advisable to carry a portable cooker. The Pyke-Big Bay Route provides a round trip, but is not well defined in places, and should only be attempted by experienced and well equipped parties. It is essential to inquire about the conditions of the route before starting your trip on the Hollyford Track.
See our links page for contact information for the Department of Conservation or email email@example.com please book your hut tickets with the Department of Conservation before you organise your transport.
